A Controlled Clinical Test of a New Psycholeptic Drug (Haloperidol)

ABSTRACT

A double-blind test of haloperidol was carried out on 36 patients. Haloperidol and placebo alternated so that each patient acted as his own control. Haloperidol was found significantly better than placebo. The discussion of technical problems established the desirability of administration of the active compound and placebo for relatively long periods, in order to reduce as far as possible the overlapping effect of the two periods.
