The results are described of a clinical trial of a new anti-convulsant on mentally subnormal epileptics refractory to other drugs. Although serious untoward effects occurred in many patients, others made substantial improvement, as measured by number of fits, behaviour and EEG pattern. Numerous biochemical and haematological data are recorded and in addition extensive pathological details are supplied of three patients who died during or after the trial.
