ARTHUR K. SHAPIRO M.D.1 and ELAINE SHAPIRO PH.D.2

1 Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, The New York Hospital—Cornell Medical Center (Payne Whitney Psychiatric Clinic), 525 East 68th Street, New York, New York 10021

This paper described one detailed and two brief reports of patients with Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome successfully treated with haloperidol. It is likely that the aetiology of the syndrome is organic pathology of the central nervous system, and possible that psychological characteristics are secondary effects of the illness.
