A review is presented of 64 children and adolescents (22 males and 42 females) who attempted suicide. Females outnumbered males in the ratio 2:1; 43 were between the ages of 14 and 17; 20 were eldest children. Only 32 lived with both parents but the majority of these were in emotionally disorganized families. Only 8 families were considered to be normal. In 50 cases suicide was attempted by ingestion of drugs. 32 attempted suicide between September and December.
