A case of the rare Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome is described for the first time outside Europe and America. The aetiology is discussed and, on the view that the condition may be the product of organic brain damage acted on by psychological stress, it is suggested that therapy should include a useful drug which acts on the basal ganglia (trifluoperazine), together with psychotherapeutic methods which alleviate social or psychological stress.
