The development of the Kleine-Levin syndrome as a new nosological entity is briefly reviewed, the clinical picture and course of the illness are discussed and the first case from India is reported. The patient is discussed in relation to the patients already reported and it is suggested that the symptoms implicate that the syndrome is a manifestation of hypothalamic dysfunction.
