Royal Medico-Psychological Association Memorandum on the Second Green Paper on the Future of the National Health Service

In conclusion we have a suggestion to make which we trust will receive most careful consideration. It is that the Government should organize a high level Working Party to examine, formulate and prepare a `blueprint' for the future organization of psychiatry and the Mental Health Services generally. This Association itself has, in fact, already set up a Tripartite Committee, jointly with the Psychological Medicine Group Committee of the British Medical Association and the Society of Medical Officers of Health, to examine this field as a matter of highest priority. If the Government themselves do not set up an independent Working Party as suggested, the presence of a Government observer on the Tripartite Committee would clearly be advantageous.
