The second sentence of the second paragraph in the Results (p. 284, col. 2) should read: In Europe, for example, there are 5.5–20.0 psychiatrists per 100 000 population, whereas the figure is 0.05 per 100 000 in African countries (Njenga, 2002); the average number of psychiatric beds is 87 per 100 000 in the European region and 3.4 per 100 000 in Africa (Alem, 2002).
