Psychiatry in pictures
EDITED BY ALLAN BEVERIDGE
Do you have an image, preferably accompanied by 100 to 200 words of
explanatory text, that you think would be suitable for Psychiatry in Pictures?
Submissions are very welcome and should be sent direct to Dr Allan Beveridge,
Queen Margaret Hospital, Whitefield Road, Dunfermline, Fife KY12 0SU, UK.
Ron grew up on a family farm
in Surrey which he associates with
peace and
quiet, comfort and cos
iness. Many of his
pictures have animals and rural
references. Reflect
ing on this image
and the identity of the central figure he
said, `It's about
a Jew's dilemma
in life he's called "U. T.
Fat", not
Jesus, not a Nazi or a streaml
ine person I imag
ine him
as a sort of icon of Jewish fraternity, memories of another
period of history,
with all his friends laugh
ing and jok
ing'.
Ron is Jewish. Much improved for
Ron s

ine,
but for some years the pa
int
ings stopped. His
early novels,
The Circus of Simon Hollander and
The Ratcatcher's
Almanac are lost and latterly he has concentrated more on his
`
inventions',
of which there are now 376. He feels these to be of great
importance,
offer
ing many ways of cop
ing with life's problems and is
correspond
ingly
frustrated that no-one of sufficient knowledge will take them
seriously or act upon them. Another picture by Ron will be
featured
in the May
issue of the
Journal.
