Parental Age and Schizophrenia

K. L. GRANVILLE-GROSSMAN

Abstract

The ages of parents at the birth of schizophrenics have been compared with those at the births of their non-schizophrenic sibs, using a standardization procedure designed to eliminate any effect of size of sibship.

No difference has been found between schizophrenics and controls, suggesting that parental age is not of importance in the aetiology of schizophrenia.
