Welcome
to My Psychosis.
Figgy
Fox (b. 1959).
Figgy
Fox's artwork is his reaction to admissions to psychiatric hospitals and his
battle against addiction to drugs and alcohol and episodes of depression and
psychosis. He paints `when the dark thoughts of my illness invade my mind and
it then becomes a necessity to put the ideas onto paper in a bid to exorcise my
mind'. The paintings draw on his innermost feelings, phobias and paranoia that
form recurrent symbols in his work such as moths and scissors, of which he has
a strong phobia. His more recent work depicts the isolation and loneliness he
has felt following his separation from his second wife and the deaths of close
friends. Reproduced with permission of the copyright holder: The Bethlem Art
